Chile is an important Latin American entrepreneurship and innovation hub. Coordination between private & public actors in Chile is an international success story.
Role of the State
CORFO is the Government Agency promoting investment, innovation and entrepreneurship, to improve the competitiveness of our economy and increase diversification. For over 20 years CORFO has been fostering the VC industry. Its programs leverage private funds, offering matching amounts or in some cases twice or three times the private contribution. As of 2023, CORFO has committed resources of over US$ 1 billion for investment in Chilean businesses.
Ecosystem
Several actors have contributed knowledge and tools to support entrepreneurship in Chile. These include business incubators and accelerators, crowdfunding platforms and mentoring networks throughout the country.
VC industry
The local VC industry includes associations like the Chilean Venture Capital Association (ACVC) and the Chilean Association of Investment Funds Management (ACAFI). They play a key role as counterparts of Government entities, investors and other parties with an interest in investing in Chile
Venture Capital Chile by CORFO is the channel through which the State extends finance tools for the VC Industry. These funds can equal, double or even triple private contributions to specialized VC funds.
To this end, CORFO provides credit lines for VC Funds incorporated in Chile, focused upon investing in Chilean business.
